You can create and manage multiple newsletters or podcasts associated with a single publication.
On Substack, additional newsletters are called “Sections.” A section lets you send posts to a subset of your audience, and subscribers can control their email settings for this content.
You can also add a podcast to each of your newsletters. This lets you publish podcast episodes that will be emailed to the subset of your audience subscribed to the associated newsletter and lets you publish this podcast in iTunes, Spotify, and other podcast platforms.

Tips on how to create a new section for your podcast
What happens if I have a new subscriber or would like to add current subscribers?
If you've checked the box next to "Add new subscribers by default" when creating a new section, all new subscribers will receive the new section by default.
If you didn't check the box next to "Copy your email list" when initially creating a section, you can still add your existing subscribers after you've made a section.
Head to the section's settings and scroll to "Subscriber settings". Select the "Add subscribers" button, and emails will be turned on for this section. It should be completed in a few minutes.
How can readers unsubscribe from a section?
They can edit this by doing one of the following:
- Click "unsubscribe" at the bottom of any email from you, which takes them to a page where they can choose what sections in your publication to subscribe to.
- Log into their Substack account, head to their account Settings, select their subscription, and choose which newsletters to receive.
How do I display sections on my publication's main homepage?
In the Themes editor, select "Groups (sections or tags)" in the Posts drop-down menu.
Select which section(s) you want to surface on your homepage. Below the fold, the specific section(s) will appear alongside recent posts.
Can I change how my section homepage appears to readers on the web?
You can now customize what your readers see when they visit a section. In the Themes editor, you can show your section logo and description or spotlight your latest posts.
Select in Body whether you'd like to display the section posts in a list or grid layout.
Some things to keep in mind when using Sections:
- We recommend using sections for publishing new content rather than displaying static resources or information, for which recommended links are a better feature.
- Sections are not just a way to organize your posts– this feature lets you target a subset of your primary audience. Sections are recommended if you want to be able to send emails to subsets of your subscribers.
- To hide the section's posts from appearing on your publication's homepage or archives, head to the section's settings and check the box next to "Hide posts from homepage".
- If you want to change your section's URL, just head to your section's settings and enter the new URL.
- To see which readers are subscribed to a particular section, you can follow these steps here.
