You can customize your Substack by selecting different colors for your publication background, selecting from a variety of fonts, and also changing the publication layout.
When logged into your Substack account, head to your publication's Settings page and click Branding in the left navigation bar. Then click on "Edit theme" next to Publication theme.
Branding
Here, customize your publication's design:
- Design: Add color to your site’s background and accent it. Plus, pick a font that matches your writing’s personality.
- Logo and wordmark: Establish your brand with your logo and a wordmark featuring your publication name.
If you'd like to try random colors and fonts, click on the shuffle icon at the top next to Branding.
Homepage
Customize and organize your Substack homepage, giving you the ability to create a distinctive look for your publication without extra work.
In the Homepage section, you’ll see two sections that compose your homepage: an Intro, which determines the post or posts that appear the top of your homepage, and a Body, which determines how the remaining posts appear below. Select the toggle next to "Advanced layouts" to format posts into different views such as lists, grid, tags, sections, or featuring recent posts.
Sections
You can now customize what your readers see when they visit a section. Here, you can select to show your section logo and description or spotlight your latest posts.
Select in Body whether you'd like to display the section posts in a list or grid layout.
