What is the meaning of each source on my Stats page?

Your Stats tab will show the sum of all visits to your publication across platforms - and where those visits came from.
 

Source

  • Where your visitors came from, also known as referral traffic. 

Direct

  • When someone types in your URL directly into the browser and lands on your publication.
  • When someone who is using a web browser anonymously lands on your publication.
  • When someone accesses your publication via email. 

Views

  • The sum of all views to your publication from that particular source  (i.e. 36 people came from Facebook and viewed your Substack).

Free subscriptions

  • The number of people who signed up for a free subscription from the related source (i.e. 9 people from Facebook signed up for free).
Paid subscriptions
  • The number of people who signed up for a paid subscription from the related source (i.e. 0 people from Facebook signed up for a paid subscription).
