We recently updated our Politics category leaderboards into separate categories (US, World, and Health Politics) to improve discovery, SEO, and better align with reader preferences.
Categorizing your publication helps others discover your writing through search and discovery surfaces on Substack.
To add categories to your publication:
- Sign in to your Substack account and navigate to your publication's Settings page.
- In the Basics section, select from the drop-down menu what you think your publication is about. For example, Culture or Travel can be two categories you can select.
Note: These category selections are considered requests. Substack takes these preferences into account in creating and displaying our leaderboards, but we maintain the right to adjust inappropriate category assignments. If you appear on the leaderboard, you'll only be listed under the primary category that you select on your Settings page.
