How do I contact a writer on Substack?

If you’re looking to reach the writer of a Substack publication, you may do so by responding to a newsletter via email. This is the most common way subscribers communicate with writers. If you've received a newsletter from them, hit reply and type your message.

You can also send them a message via email at <subdomain>@substack.com (replace subdomain with the name of their Substack publication).

If there's no reply option i.e., the writer has replies to their Substack email turned off or the writer hasn't provided any contact information on their About page, we unfortunately don't have a way to facilitate direct contact.

You can also try direct messaging a Substack writer or reader by direct messaging them. Click on their profile and select "Message" or head to your Chat tab and search for the person you'd like to contact. If the "Message" button is missing on their profile or they don't appear in the Chat search, it's possible they have disabled anyone from messaging them on Substack.
